Located on the north shore of St Croix, Cane Bay is a great Caribbean destination for travelers looking to enjoy beautiful beaches and vibrant sea life, such as sea turtles, rays, coral and sponges, while snorkeling.

Great Beach and Active Sea Life

One of the reasons that Cane Bay, St. Croix is such a popular snorkeling destination is that there is easy access to a large reef from the shore. The breezy north-shore beach is protected by a barrier reef, which means that just off of shore, Cane Bay snorkelers have access to vibrant coral, Elkhorn and multicolored tropical fish. Snorkelers can rent or purchase gear from the Cane Bay Dive Shop which is onsite for convenience.

The Cane Bay Wall is also merely 300 yards from shore, making Cane Bay, St. Croix a world-famous scuba diving destination. Just a few hundred yards from shore, the wall drops from 40 to over 3,200 feet and is the main attraction for scuba divers in the Caribbean. With exotic coral reefs and an abundance of sea life just off shore, Cane Bay is a tremendous destination for any avid snorkeler or scuba diver.

Where is Cane Bay, St. Croix

Those traveling to Cane Bay, St. Croix will need to catch a flight to Henry E. Rohlsen Airport. From there, Cane Bay is a short 14km drive which will take approximately 20 minutes. Parking is available in a small lot across the street from the beach and street parking is allowed as well.

Best time to visit St. Croix

While December to March is peak season for Cane Bay, St. Croix due to little precipitation and balmy temperatures, April to June is considered the best time to visit as hotel rates drop and temperatures still remain high. It is generally considered best to avoid traveling between July and November when it is hurricane season and visitors can expect a lot of rain. Average water temperatures fall in the +26-29C range year-round.
