Snorkelling and Diving at Dean’s Blue Hole, Bahamas

Dean’s Blue Hole is the deepest discovered blue hole on the planet, and the second largest underwater chamber, which plunges more than 200 meters. This is a popular destination for divers and snorkelers from all over the world, and this place is absolutely stunning! First of all, it is interesting because of its numerous tunnels, caves and bog ledges which you can explore. Another thing is that you can actually see sharks sleeping in those caves, which is a priceless experience, isn’t it?

Dean’s Blue Hole is located in nearly 1 km from Clarence Town on the north side of Long Island, Bahamas. The nearest international airport is the Lynden Pindling Airport in Nassau. From there, you can take a flight to the nearest major airport – Deadman's Cay. Also, you can reach Clarence Town from Nassau by ferry.

One of the best times to explore it is between September and May, when the temperature averages 21-24°C. Other months are a bit warmer, with higher humidity in the summer months and temperatures between 27-29°C.
Dean’s Blue Hole is a true mecca for snorkelers and divers. It is especially popular among free-divers due to its lack of waves and visibility of around 20-30 meters. However, it requires from you to be a well-skilled swimmer, since the drop-off from the sandy beach is pretty extreme.

One of the most common solutions among travellers in terms of accommodation is renting the houses or rooms from natives. Otherwise, if you do not plan staying in a private house, there are several nice hotels located right next to the coast.

The area around the Dean’s Blue Hole is absolutely gorgeous, with unique natural environment and special beauty. Once here, consider also visiting Clarence Town. It is small, but absolutely charming!
